Some Disturbing Statistics...
Approximately 70,000 puppies and kittens are born EVERY DAY in the U.S.,
compared to the 10,000 people born, right away you see the short fall.
Between 4 to 6 MILLION companion animals are killed every year because of homelessness and irresponsible breeding, weither intentional or accidental. That means that 11,000 to 16,000 companion animals are losing their lives, some in horrifically inhumane ways, EVERY DAY in the U.S. thru no fault of their own. That's one every 1.5 SECONDS.
Only 1 in 10 born in the U.S. gets a good home that lasts a life time!
How TOGETHER we can help...
It is the desire of Proverbs 1210 Ministries to help make a
difference, and here's how.
Proverbs 12:10 Ministries will provide low
cost spay and nueter clinics in cooperation with various local vets, to help low
income families provide treatment for their pets needs while combatting the over
population and high kill rate in our local communities.
We
will also provide fencing for low income families to ease the suffering of dogs
destined to spend their lives on chains, educate their owners on crate training
(providing crates if necessary)/house breaking, and basic obedience- whatever it
takes to help get the dogs off the chain and inside as a member of the family!
Altho their is an anti-tethering law in our community, limiting the chaining of
dogs to 8 hrs. at a time, chaining is so prevelent that it is almost impossible
to enforce and most owners when confronted opt to surrender their animal to
Animal Control because they dont have the funds to contain them any other way.
We want to prevent that by offering this service.
We
also want to provide temperary housing/boarding for the pets of people who, for
whatever reason, find themselves homeless. With the economy struggling as it has
in the last few years, owner surrenders have SKY ROCKETED and families have been
torn apart. In most Animal Control and Shelters, owner surrenders move to the
top of the list for euthenasia, meaning they are not required any "safe time"
before being killed. We would like to help prevent this as well as facilitating
animals that have loving owners being able to stay with those owners, and giving
them a safe place in the interum. Homelessness is a stressful enough situation
without having to lose your beloved pet as well.
Another
way we would like to assist is by providing free/low cost transport for animals
from our high kill facilities to vetting, boarding, rescue, another transporter
(on the way to safety) or long distance adopters in an effort to make rescue and
adoption easier, and therefore more likely.
To provide dog
and cat food to low income families struggling to feed their pet.
Proverbs 1210 Ministries believes that everyone should know the
joy of owning a pet, and every animal deserves a loving home, regardless of
financial status. At one time or another most of us struggle, or face unexpected
hardships. We want to fill the gap during those times.
Lastly, but perhaps most importantly our goal is to instill a sense of
compassion and responsibility in our youth, awareness of the cruelty issues in
our country, educate people on the over population issue and the importance of
spaying and nuetering, responsible pet ownership, basic training, crate and
house training ect. We want to include our local youth in the hands on exp. of
rescueing, training, and caring for of shelter animals! We believe that most
people want to do the right thing and given the proper tools, will. We want to
help facilitate those choices.
